Windows 95/98 Setup - Dial-up Networking


1. Double-click the My Computer icon.

2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking folder.




3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.




4. Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing, type GlobalNet

5. Click the Next button.




6. In the Area code and Telephone number boxes, type your GlobalNet number.

7. Click the Next button.

8. Click the Finish button.




9. To create a shortcut to this connection on your desktop: right click on the GlobalNet icon and click Create Shortcut. (An error message will pop up saying that windows can’t create a shortcut here, would you like to create one on the desktop instead, click yes.)

10. Next, in the Dial-Up Networking window, right click on the GlobalNet icon and click Properties.

11. Click the Server Type button. (Or click the Server Type tab for Windows 98)





12. For Type of Dial-Up Server, select PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet.

13. Uncheck Log on to network.

14. Check Enable software compression.

15. Uncheck Require encrypted password.

16. Uncheck NetBEUI.

17. Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.

18. Check TCP/IP.

19. Click the OK button.





20. Click the OK button.

21. To Connect, Double Click your newly created GlobalNet Icon

22. Enter in your username you were assinged (make sure to put “@globalco.net or @go-globalusa.net” after your username ie: username@go-globalusa.net)

23. Enter in your Password

24. Click on Connect
